Mama Doom
Guitar-less metal bands are few and far between, so kudos to
Mama Doom for walking a seldom-trod path.
Apparently it wasn't always that way, the band releasing two
EPs that reportedly did feature guitars, before dropping
them for a drums/bass/keyboards approach in time for 2021's
Ash Bone Skin N Stone.
This is stripped-down, doomy spooky occult rock,
sometimes similar to early
Bloody Hammers,
with the thick dominant bass tone giving off occasional
Type O Negative
vibes,
all topped by engaging clear sultry vocals from D.Lolli.
Truthfully the guitars are not missed at all, the bass/keyboard
interplay are perfect for this style.
