Ocean

No relation to the modern German post-progressive band The Ocean, Ocean was an obscure French band who briefly poked their head through the clouds with a surprisingly good self-titled hard rock/metal album in 1981. It turns out that Ocean was their fourth album (as well as their last), having debuted with the more prog-rock album God's Clown in 1976. Like a lot of French-singing bands of the early 80's, worldwide success was not really in the cards and they faded away in 1983. though they must have had a pretty solid career at home judging by the later compilations. Apparently a reformation was in the cards in the 2000's until Robert Belmonte's death in 2004, though guitarist Georges Bodossian put together a new lineup for a time several years later.
