Speak No Evil

Hailing from Los Angeles, Speak No Evil's debut was quite plainly influenced by Badmotorfinger-era Soundgarden, both musically and vocally, as Curtis Skelton's soulful vocals are quite similar to Chris Cornell's. By the time of the followup, Welcome To The Downside, the Soundgarden similarities were toned down just a bit, with the band being a bit harder and leaner, drawing some comparisons to, perhaps, Sevendust. Both albums are quite good in their own right, but due to whatever reasons (label mismanagement, perhaps), they didn't get a lot of exposure. For several years afterward the band laid low, and then there were reports of a modified lineup possibly working on new material in a different direction, but apparently said material never saw the light of day, at least not as Speak No Evil.
