Sarcofago

Sarcofago was one of the leading Brazilian cult death metal bands of the late eighties, led by one Wagner Lamounier who apparently was briefly in Sepultura during that band's formative years. Like many Brazilian bands of that time, their music was pretty rough and raw, particularly on the 1987 debut INRI where the sound and musicianship are barely above demo quality. By the time of The Laws Of Scourge a few years later things had improved, the band moving more in a thrashy death direction, with even some odd keyboard flourishes here and there. Really more of an important band for helping establish the Brazilian scene rather than actually being a groundbreaking band musically.
