Scavenger

Scavenger was a young Irish power/thrash band that formed in 2001 and released a self-titled album just one year later. Youthful and energetic, the band played a somewhat thrashy 80's power metal mixed with some NWOBHM rawness, particularly the fuzzy guitar tone that adds a nice rough character to the songs. This was one of those bands who don't immediately sound like anyone else but who are instantly familiar and enjoyable. The vocalist alternately resembled Steve Sousa (Exodus) and Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), or perhaps a cross between the two -- his vocals were at times a bit one-dimensional but they suited the music well. The band managed a followup a couple of years later but disbanded around 2006.
