Sledgehammer
The NWOBHM band Sledgehammer scored a minor hit with their song,
also called "Sledgehammer", that appeared on the
Metal For Muthas
compilation in 1980 as well as the NWOBHM retrospective that Lars
Ulrich helped put together some time ago.
It was a fine song, but not a fair representation of the band,
as evidenced by their
Blood On Their Hands album.
A rather odd album, and certainly atypical of NWOBHM bands of
the day, its style somewhat melodic and mellowish in places, a style
that was quite original and interesting.
The album was re-released, in a sense, by Mausoleum, with a
different title (now just called
Sledgehammer), artwork,
bonus tracks, and possibly a remix of the original recordings.
