Tomb Mold

Planetary Clairvoyance, the 2019 release by Canadian deathsters Tomb Mold, hits a rare (to these ears) sweet spot in death metal -- it's unabashedly old-school, bringing little in terms of real originality, crushing yet not oppressive, and somehow manages to sound fresh and vibrant. The vocals are satisfyingly gutteral and brutal, the riffs change enough to keep the listener engaged, but yet are memorable enough and stay just long enough to wedge into one's brain. A solid recommendation.
