Throw two former
guys and an
player into a new project, and that project would be named
Ashes Of Ares.
And those two bands provide a decent starting point for describing
the style here, that being classic, crunchy, intricate thrash-tinged
power metal, with vocalist Matt Barlow putting in a predictably fine
performance with his powerful vocals.
If there's a downside, it's that they're playing it safe here, as the
songs are fine and well-executed but lack a real sense of identity.
Perhaps that will improve in time.
