Blood Incantation
Over the course of their first two albums,
2016's
Starspawn and
2019's
Hidden History Of The Human Race,
Denver quartet Blood Incantation have risen to among the
top rungs of the US death metal ladder, with
their progressive, not-quite-tech-death approach to the
genre, highlighted by inventive songwriting and
their space-related lyrical themes.
And befitting a band that perhaps has its sights set higher
than most, they baffled everyone by following up
Hidden History with an EP (in name only, it's three
tracks and over an hour in length) that's completely
ambient music and entirely devoid of anything metallic.
While this is unlikely to be their main focus in the future,
it does speak to their greater vision (and in its own right,
it's quite good).
Unquestionably a band to keep an eye on.

released on October 4, 2024.
