Frozen Sun

Frozen Sun sound little like other modern European bands (i.e. they aren't power metal, nor death/black metal), and they don't sound anything like guitarist Jelle Bakker's previous band (Donor, a progressive thrash band). Instead, the style here is decidedly American, opting for a hard alternative sound. The vocals often sound similar to Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust -- musically they are less bottom-heavy than Sevendust, but the comparison is a valid one, even though Frozen Sun is certainly not a clone and really doesn't sound a lot like anyone else. Frozen Sun was somewhat of a quirky band, kind of interesting for those looking for something a little on the odd side. They broke up in 2000.
