Hermética

Hermética had a relatively short career but is still regarded as one of the better and more popular bands from Argentina, though they aren't as well known outside of South America. They formed in the late eighties and released a few albums in the succeeding years (though the discography below is deceiving -- four of the eight albums are live, several released posthumously) but broke up seemingly at the height of their popularity. A likely cause of the breakup were personal differences between band leader Ricardo Iorio and the others, as Iorio formed Almafuerte soon after the breakup while several other members went to Malón. Their style was rooted in early thrash/speed metal, with Claudio O'Connor's rather high-pitched, throaty style giving the band a distinctive sound.
