King Goat
Progressive doom isn't a common musical description, as the two genres
don't often intermix.
Yet it's the best description of Colorado's King Goat, who
debuted with the excellent self-released
Conduit in 2016
and then followed that up with the similar and also well-done
Debt Of Aeons two years later.
The slow-to-mid-paced tempos, heavy riffing, and Trim's distinctive
sonorous vocals keep the band rooted in the doom camp, but the
songwriting takes some twists and turns that bring out the progressive
element.
As of this writing it's been five years since
Debt's release, hopefully
the band has more in store, as they have a fairly original sound and
should appeal to fans of doom as well as doom-adjacent metal.
