Nevertanezra
Nevertanezra is a Utah-based band/project led by guitarist
Michael Ventura, active in one form or another since its founding
in 1999.
As heard on the
NTNR release,
the core of Nevetanezra's music is rooted in classic doomdeath,
no doubt inspired by the
My Dying Brides of the world but not aping such bands, the songs consisting
of the requisite crushing riffs, tailor-made vocals courtesy of
Rick McCoy of
Avernus,
and plenty of melancholy and even some progressive touches to keep
things interesting -- proof positive that doomdeath is alive and well,
Ventura's efforts rank alongside the best of the genre.
The more recent
Bastard Of Prometheus
appears to be a ambitious undertaking, it consisting of a single
32-minute track of instrumental funereal doom.
