Dodecahedron
Dodecahedron came out swinging with their self-titled 2012 debut.
The closest comparison (and a clear influence) might be
Deathspell Omega,
as their brand of chaotic, dissonent extreme metal is found throughout the
record.
Five years later, the guys produced
Kwintessens, and here
that style remains in place,
but the guys are even more out-there, with endless twisting riffs,
harrowing shrieking vocals, and plenty of apocalyptic/dystopian vibes.
The musicianship is top-notch, with the drumming getting a special nod
for simply being all over the place and yet controlled at the same time.
The band rarely comes up for air, and the songs tend to blur, but yet
within each song are so many variations of the theme that boredom is
not a issue, even if exhaustion might be.
