Haken

Haken was formed in 2007, with two early members also serving time in another British prog band in To-Mera. Within a couple of years they'd attracted the interest of Records, and since their 2010 debut have released a string of successful albums. Their style is centered along classic progressive rock/metal lines, with the usual suspects such as Yes, Dream Theater and countless others serving as either influences or soundalikes or both, but the best prog bands succeed in weaving such styles to forge their own path, and Haken is no exception. They mix solid musicianship with the right amount of technical flair but also reining in the indulgence to craft real songs. They rank with Threshold as the best in British progressive metal.
