Breaker

Named for the classic Accept album, Breaker was one of a handful of traditionally metal-minded Ohio bands who generated a minor buzz in the mid-eighties, with others in this fraternity including Shok Paris, Purgatory, and Black Death. Formed in 1982, the band commenced recording their debut album, Get Tough, in 1984, but it would not be released until 1987, due largely to internal conflicts with singer Jim Hamar, who had left the band during initial recordings before rejoining in time to complete the album. Regarded as a minor classic, Get Tough is undeniably 80's American hard rock/metal, with a keen eye towards the mainstream while still retaining a tough metal edge. Despite a loyal local following, the band couldn't keep it together, disbanding near the end of the 80's after initiating recordings for a second album Engines Of Disaster. It would not be until 1999 when the band came back together, to record a cover version of Accept's Breaker, which eventually became the title of a comeback EP. Finally, Get Tough was re-released as part of a 2-CD package in 2003, the second CD containing demo and live recordings.
