Decapitated is a death metal band from Poland, founded in
1996 when the average age of the members was just 14.
Being a Polish death metal band means an inevitiable comparision
to compatriots
Vader,
and in this case the comparison is a fair one, at least in their early days,
Decapitated giving their elders a run for their money
with an expertly produced,
tight, twisted technical style of brutal death metal.
The trio of
Earache-released
albums from 2002 to 2006 have received worldwide acclaim.
But tragedy struck in 2007, when their tour bus suffered an accident
that seriously injured vocalist Covan and fatally injured drummer Vitek.
The band essentially folded after that, with sole remaining member Vogg
reforming the band with new members in 2009.
The later albums have seen a shift from technical death metal to a more
groove-oriented approach.
