Hic Iacet
Here we have a rather odd take on doomy black metal from an obscure
Spanish band on their 2015 effort,
The Cosmic Trance Into The Void.
The band take influences from black, death, and doom metal, but in
doing so they manage to not
really sound like any of those genres.
One way to describe them musically might be very early
Celtic Frost, if they had gone a more black/death route rather than
the occult/doom direction.
The riffs are raw and somewhat simplistic, the vocals distant
deathly howls, the production primitive, yet there's something
oddly compelling here.
Not sure what kind of staying power this band has, but
Cosmic Trance
is a surprise hit to these ears.
