Spirit Web
Spirit Web is a side project for several Chicago metal players,
notably
Syris.
That band's core (guitarist/vocalist) is here,
and the style of Spirit Web's debut is dead identical to
Syris'
Unseen Forces album of a year ago -- 80's power metal,
highlighted by the Dickenson/Dane-ish vocals of Scott Huffman
(though he has since left the group).
The songwriting and musicianship are in fine form here, though a
nod towards contemporary metal might be nice too, as the style here
is very much inspired by the 80's.
This album (as well as
Unseen Forces) are well-done in the field
of eighties-style metal.
After a three year wait, their second album,
Far Beyond The Visual Mind, was released in late 2003.
